Artists in Gallaries

Art as tool to reflect

The project aims at how emerging artists perceive the ongoing exhibitions at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. I chose western art, focusing on European art at the Mallett Gallery. My work focused on perceiving western art from eastern and colonial perspectives. To understand the motivation depicted in the paintings, like ships sailing with high flags of pride, to analyze the demeanor of the busts of the prominent historical figures. This project is still a work in progress.

The one-month residency was focused on conducting art workshops for the local community, doing live art in front of them, and learning from the local artisans like woodworkers and Pashmina weavers, their skills of intricacy and consistency.
